Four key themes emerge from the overview of Derby’s economy and the future drivers – presenting a way of understanding the challenges and opportunities for the City’s economy in the years to 2022. Reflecting on the evidence-base and where this strategy fits with other strategic drivers it is clear that successful, dynamic and modern city economies rely on (1) productivity (2) innovation (3) collaboration and (4) a whole-city approach to economic growth.
This section summarises the existing evidence base for each theme and establishes key indicators to guide the direction of travel of the City’s economy over the next five years.
