Derby’s economy has evolved and grown since the previous Economic Strategy was published in 2011. While the intervening period is a short timeframe in the long-term economic history of the city, the economy has progressed and continues to perform well against many regional and national benchmarks. A ‘state of the city 2017’ assessment, below, highlights some key shifts in economic performance since 2011 and the evidence behind the city’s key economic challenges and opportunities for the next five years.
